I started South Riding (Winifred Holtby) on Friday, but then left it in Cambridge. I have three days of not-commuting now, and am trying to combine half-term Fun and Socialising (see Other Media, below) with having a brain full of cotton wool (if I weren't on leave today anyway, I tell you...) - and so I am not really reading anything at the moment.
Recently Finished
On The Road, for the second time. Also, since it was a Cambridge weekend, Guards! Guards!, Moving Pictures and Eric. I continue to be intrigued by the frequency of the conservative reboot button in the early Discworlds.

Not actually sure. Will wait for the lurgy to go away.
Other Media
Not a good week for reading, but much other stuff. Caught up on Mythbusters at the weekend - the Zombie Special on Valentine's Day - brains, hearts, what's the difference - although I am not convinced that this was entirely scientific, because not all the zombies remained in character. Also one about herding cats, and the Star Wars special.
The Lego Movie on Saturday, which was excellent fun - one of those children's films made with more than half an eye to the fact that it's adults who are buying the tickets.
Last night - Othello, Guildford Shakespeare Company at Holy Trinity Church. Inventive staging as always - I always enjoy a) seeing what they've done to the church and b) seeing how they use that. There was an awful lot of rope around this time. They went for a fifties Cold War vibe this time, which had the interesting effect of making it all seem very Italian. I'm not sure why, but it worked. And my goodness, this was Emilia's show. I have always loved Emilia - I think she's the only character with any integrity left at the end of the play; she has broken free of all the expectations of what wives ought to be, and becomes truth personified - and Rosalind Blessed was fantastic. I couldn't take my eyes off her.
