Havi posted this fantastic thing about trays the other day, about having a choice of things, and not having to have all the things. I loved this, and I have a tray. My cousin Amy gave it to me for Christmas. What I also have are two boxes of story cubes. And so I have a tray full of stories.
And because I do not have to, and cannot, do all the things, even if I take the whole weekend over it, I have a Choose Your Own Adventure Tray.

It started looking like this. There are now four or five dice left on it. Some of them turned out to be epic quests (the ghost, for example, represents the dirty laundry, both the literal sort and the metaphorical sort - two loads into the washing machine, and six pages in the diary; and solving the riddle of the pyramid took me all afternoon). Some of them were quick: the camping trip was just putting the sleeping bag away and sewing two badges onto the camp blanket. Some were hints: the shooting star was blatantly a prompt to put on my meteorite earrings, and the aeroplane an invitation to re-examine my feelings about flying.
I have chosen many things from my tray. Many things have got done. It was extremely fun. I shall do it again.
