Book Club round-up
Jan. 5th, 2014 04:57 pmThe HQ book club is reading a Great Irish Novel*.
The Guildford book club is reading a Great American Novel**.
The matrimonial book swap is reading two Great French Novels***.
My mother has a publisher but is despairing of ever finishing her book. I think I'm going to finish my book but also think that it sucks too much to ever find a publisher. My father is not writing anything so far as I am aware; he sold some copies of his last book on New Year's Day and immediately spent part of the proceeds on a model Leyland Tiger Cub.

* No, not that one.
** That one. I could not find a single copy, and I tried all the charity shops in Ryde, Ventnor and Guildford. Eventually borrowed my brother's copy - it took me an embarrassingly long time to work out that, with three brothers aged between 17 and 25, the chances of at least one of them having acquired it somewhere along the line were pretty high. I lent him £20. Debate currently raging on Facebook as to who got the better deal.
*** One each. In English. And at last. Tony managed to take both of them to Cambridge and I have only just got my assigned one back.
